Qajaq’s career is built on a foundation of specialized legal education and diverse professional experiences. Qajaq began her journey as a legal professional articling at Nunavut Legal Aid and clerking for judges of the Nunavut Court of Justice, including then-Chief Justice Madame Justice Beverley Browne.
Her portfolio includes roles as a Federal Prosecutor with the Public Prosecution Service of Canada in Nunavut, an associate at Borden Ladner Gervais LLP in their Indigenous law group and as a member of Team North, and legal counsel for the judges of the Specific Claims Tribunal. Her expertise was further acknowledged through her significant contribution as a Commissioner for the National Inquiry into Missing and Murdered Indigenous Women and Girls from 2016 to 2019.
